Ladybird cakes

Some really cute cupcakes- great for a party. Start by making the cupcakes. But 115g of each of butter, caster sugar, and s-r flour together with 2 eggs and 0.5 tsp baking powder together and mixing. Add red food colouring. Put a spoonful of mix at the bottom of each paper case and then sprinkle over some chocolate chips. Then add another spoonful of mix and sprinkle over some more chocolate chips.

Bake at 180 degrees C for 20-25 mins until risen and firm.

Once cool make the grass icing- beat together 175g butter for several minutes until it is pale and cream and then beat in 350g icing sugar for another 4-5 minutes. Add 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 1 tbsp of boiling water and beat for another couple of minutes to give a smooth texture. Add in green food colouring and then pipe over the cakes.

For the ladybirds get some white sugar paste and dye some red and some black.

Then use the red to make little bodies and use the black to make spots and faces. Use writing icing to do the eyes. Allow to air dry and then add one to each cake.
